Leona Ray

Leona Ray was born a week ago today.  I went into the hospital just to get monitored for an hour to make sure everything was alright.  The night before and all day Saturday I hadn't felt as much movement as I normally did so we went in just to be safe.  After monitoring her heart and all of her movements for an hour there was 2 little blurp things on the monitor that the doctor didn't like so they sent me upstairs to get an ultrasound. 

In the ultrasound the babies get a score.  They are supposed to developmentally achieve certain things during the sonogram and based on those things they get a score.  In most cases if the baby gets anywhere from a 6-10 they'll call it good and let you go home.  Leona scored a 4 so my doctor decided it was just time for her to join us since I was already far enough along and contracting on my own anyway.

Long story short and to spare everyone the details it was a FANTASTIC delivery.  It was quick and easy, and I'm extremely grateful.  We are loving having her here.  Maya is oblivious and doesn't really get it, but you can tell she's like, who is this new baby my parents are holding all the time.  Jayda is a little jealous of the time spent with Leona now but is adjusting and loving being our little helper. 

When Leona was born she weighed 5 pounds 9 oz and left the hospital at 5 pounds 6 oz, the next day at her doctors appointment she was 5 pounds 3 oz so from each day to day she lost 3 oz but now that she's home and feeding on more of a regular schedule she is doing great and gaining weight......i think :) I stare at her all day everyday so I can't really tell but her cheeks look chubbier to me so I'll take that as a good sign.
