Mr. Green Thumb

Well it's that time of year again. Chris planted our garden this weekend and boy did it take longer than he had planned. Last year we had some really good cilantro and carrots and other things too but the way our back fence is situated, it ended up shading the tomato plants too much and they died off. So this time around Chris not only wanted to account for that but also to expand our garden so he could allow for more things that he wanted to plant.

He had to shovel out all the rocks, make the ground level, go get the seeds and plants, lay down all the mulch and manure, make the rows, then plant all the goods, and get a good watering in....all while a little 2 and a half year old was nipping at his heels trying to be a part of the process :) I wish I would've taken a picture but Jayda was dirty from head to toe. She even had dirt under her little nails and all on her face, but she sure loves to help her daddy out in the yard.

This time around we have planted Corn, purple and green onions, lettuce, cilantro, yellow and green bell peppers, cucumbers and Armenian cucumbers (which are just really long extra big ones b/c Chris is going to have his grandma show him how to pickle them) tomatoes, and 1 strawberry plant for me :) Chris says we have to wait a bit longer and then he will also plant beets (which I WILL NOT be eating) and potatoes. Mostly I just wanted the strawberry plant and the essentials for things I like to make, and of course the cilantro, tomatoes, and green onions for salsa :)

I didn't take pictures but once everything starts to come in I'll have to keep updating.
