Baby Name

Everyone keeps asking me what we're going to name our new little girl that's on her way. Let me just say it was a hard decision. I always want random maybe even sometimes on the weird side, kind of names because I don't want my kids to have really common names. I didn't growing up and I loved it. Chris is more on the keep it normal and simple side but has slowly started creeping my way :) This time around he wanted to name our child a Mayan name since that is what his heritage is and where his mothers side of the family has their roots. She's from the Yucatan in Mexico, which is down by all the ruins and cancun that sort of thing. A lot of the natives still speak Maya and Chris really wanted that to be a part of our family too. So we looked and looked online and his mother called down to her family members to ask if their were any Mayan names that were at least semi easy to pronounce for us Americanos and it was just getting all crazy with accent marks and symbols so we ended up calling it quits. Then we found out we were having a girl, and we thought why don't we just name her Maya. It would represent her Mayan culture and the word means 2 things that fit this new little baby to be...."Little girl adorned with flowers" and "May Queen" which is funny because she's due in May so we fell in love with it and have decided on that. So for everyone who has been asking she will be known as little Maya Ray!! Now after all of that, the nurse better be right lol and she better come out all female otherwise I don't know what we'd do for a boy name.

Maya is cute! Girls names are so hard for me. Way harder than boys names. I am still trying to figure out our little girl's name...and I am with you on the unique name thing. I like boys names for girls too. Anyways, congrats on the little girl and for deciding on a name...now if only I were that prepared!

That is such a cute name. That is so great of you guys to use a name from Chris's heritage. I love when there is a history to a name.
